Today, 21st of March, 2018, we are releasing a new update to the TECDIS software. This brings TECDIS to software version 4.8.3.2. The most important feature of this update is the addition of import and export of routes in the RTZ format.
RTZ is a standardized route exchange format, regulated by IEC 61174 Edition 4 from 2015. We have also added several improvements and stability fixes to TECDIS with this release.
One improvement is the option to increase the display of target information. Course Over Ground (COG), Speed Over Ground (SOG), Closest Point of Approach (CPA) and Time to Closest Point of Approach (TCPA) can now be enlarged by simply clicking on any of the values. You can download the update file here: And we advise that you download and read the TECDIS Feature Guide for this release here: Unsure of how to add the update?

Furuno Software Updates
Has anyone with a Furuno TzT updated to the new 5.01 software package yet? I have had issues with 4.01 where the screen would intermittently go blank then the chart image would return-not a full re-boot but it seemed to always happen at a very importune time-I was told 5.01 was 'more stable' and that problem would no longer occur. Other then now working with the MCU 004 remote, can anyone comment on any other real world, day to day advantages that one would find with the 5.01 software upgrade? I burned way more hours then I would admit in polite company when doing the upgrade-haven't had time to run the boat with it yet.any comments on what one can expect would be appreciated. I am running 4.01 and never had any issue. I was told that the main update was to accept the new remote and new DDF-3D sounder box.You got it. I just bought the MCU004 and love it.
